Valentine's Day

As per my email from last week, we will be exchanging Valentine's cards with each other tomorrow, but we will not be having a "party."  Check my first email regarding Valentine's Day for a list of students in our class.

We will be doing this exchange from 3:20-3:50.  Please make sure that if your child chooses to participate, that they bring a Valentine for every child in our class.

Thanks so much!

2/7/17

We have been so busy this quarter, and I wanted to take the time to thank you for your quick responses to emails regarding supplies for projects! I find that emailing is a much better way to communicate for certain situations.

We are covering science through our writing as well as during writing block.  Currently, we are working on a 7 paragraph piece, that includes all aspects of the ecosystem. We are including the hydrosphere, the geosphere, the atmosphere and the biosphere. They are working really hard on these. We also introduced a "thesis statement" that they are all required to include in their writing. They are writing beautiful intro paragraphs!

In science, we are in the middle of a large unit on organisms and ecosystems. Now that we have our terrariums put together, we have moved to spheres and the weather that occurs within each sphere. We have combined our 5th grade classes and will be creating mini models of a chosen natural disaster that occurs in the sphere they were assigned. I am excited about this, I enjoy Jenna's class and she mine, and we are happy to share our students!

In reading, we are in the middle of City of Orphans! I is really starting to get good, and some of the students have figured some things out about the plot! They are totally into this book, and because I love it so much, I couldn't be happier about it!

This is such an enjoyable group of people, I have so much fun with them and look forward to them every morning.  Thank you for sharing them with me!
